WAMP 2.0 Tray Menu localhost port Modification

January 27, 2009

The WAMP default setting is to use the localhost port of 80. This conflicted with my current machine setup. I modified my httpd.conf file which worked but the tray menu shortcuts were stillĀ  using the the localhost default port of 80.

I initially googled for a solution on how to modify the tray menu shortcuts and found Set up your AMFPHP environment: running IIS and Apache simultaniously which indicated that you can modify the wampmanager.ini file. I followed the directions but for my current installation, when you restart wamp the template file settings override the modifications in the wampmanager.ini file.

Solution:

Needed to modify the wampmanager.tpl file in order to modify this port setting in the tray menu.

  • Opened wampmanager.tpl in WordPad.
  • Went to the [Menu.Left] section of this file and made my desired modifications

My file modifications are illustrated in the code segment below:

[Menu.Left]
;WAMPMENULEFTSTART
Type: separator; Caption: "Powered by Anaska"
Type: item; Caption: "${w_localhost}"; Action: run; FileName: "${c_navigator}"; Parameters: "http://localhost:8090/"; Glyph: 5
Type: item; Caption: "${w_phpmyadmin}"; Action: run; FileName: "${c_navigator}"; Parameters: "http://localhost:8090/phpmyadmin/"; Glyph: 5
Type: item; Caption: "${w_sqlitemanager}"; Action: run; FileName: "${c_navigator}"; Parameters: "http://localhost:8090/sqlitemanager/"; Glyph: 5
